About Rita Anne Jermyn

Rita A. Jermyn, M.D., is Director of the Center for Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics at St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center. Dr. Jermyn previously served as Director of Heart Failure for Northwell Health at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Hofstra-NS-LIJ School of Medicine. Dr. Jermyn is a nationally recognized leader in the use of CardioMEMS, a tiny implantable device that monitors heart failure patients around the clock from the comfort of their own homes. She is also the Medical Director of the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Program at St. Francis, which provides heart pumps for patients with advanced heart failure. Dr. Jermyn earned her medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y. in 2007. She then completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2010. She subsequently completed a Cardiology Fellowship and Chief Cardiology Fellowship at Stony Brook University Medical Center in Stony Brook, N.Y., then completed an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.Dr. Jermyn is Board Certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant. She has participated in regional, national, and international teaching presentations about managing and monitoring heart failure. She is a member of professional societies including the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), The International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), and the American Heart Association (AHA).
