About Larry M Altschul

Dr. Larry Altschul began his practice in cardiology in 1982. He is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. He is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo School of medicine and received his medical and cardiology training at Nassau County Medical Center. He is currently Chief of Cardiology at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center (since 2000) and co-Managing Director of South Bay Cardiovascular Associates out of St. Francis Hospital but located in West Islip. His special interests are in the area of cardiac imaging and heart failure but all in conjunction with the practice of general cardiology. He loves teaching residents, interns, APP's and nursing staff and has won "Teacher of the Year" or "Special Recognition" for teaching (both at Good Samaritan Hospital and Southside Hospital) approximately 16 times since the 1990s.

    As I stated Dr Larry Altschul is my cardiologist. He is the lead cardiologist in the center. I've been seeing him now for 15 years or so. Now my wife sees him also I highly recommend him. Recommending him for my wife's health says a lot about his professionalism and his knowledge of cardiovascular assessments. And his knowledge of keeping up with the latest and greatest technology and Medication. He's professional yet very personable. Highly recommended.
