Kathleen Stergiopoulos MD, PhD is a noninvasive cardiologist at St Francis Hospital-The Heart Center. Dr. Stergiopoulos has experience in the medical treatment of multiple areas of general cardiology including heart failure, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, hypertension, women's cardiovascular disease, preventive cardiology, and pregnancy and heart disease. She brings extensive experience in clinical cardiology and imaging from Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she was Professor of Medicine, Co-Director of the Women's Heart Program, Director of Inpatient Cardiology service and an active member of the cardiac imaging group. Dr Stergiopoulos is board certified in cardiovascular disease, comprehensive echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and American Society of Echocardiography. She has authored over 80 peer reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters, in leading journals such as the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of the American Heart Association and JAMA Internal Medicine. She has participated in several clinical trials as the principal investigator and was awarded various grants for her research in cardiac disease in pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Stergiopoulos was named to New York Magazine Top Doctors in Cardiovascular Disease and Castle Connolly's Top Doctors Lists in 2018. She received the Long Island Business News Award, Women's Health and Wellness in 2016. Dr. Stergiopoulos will serve as the Director of Ambulatory Echocardiography at St Francis Hospital-The Heart Center and her clinical practice office practice is based in Commack, NY. She will be working collaboratively with the providers in the St Catherine's network with an aim toward providing excellent cardiology care and embracing the patients of Suffolk County.
